CI LCC SAS Ireland was incorporated in Barranquilla Colombia on 26 June 2012 responding to Lissan Coal Company’s need for effective procurement of Coal and Coke in response to achieving its business model outlook.

LCC’s involvement in Colombia dates back to 1988 initially procuring steam coal from Bridge Coal (Cerrejon, Guajira area) and Carbones del Caribe (La Jagua, Cesar area). Since then, LCC has engaged in permanent business relationship with Colombia’s largest producer Carbones del Cerrejon which continue to date. Additionally, LCC has been involved directly with La Caypa Mine (2007 to date during Coalcorp, Xira and Pacific Coal administrations) as its primary customer. Such involvement has not been limited to coal purchases but also involved in contributing to financing the assets and supplying/setting up coal processing equipment.

Colombian steam coal purchased by Lissan has been shipped out of Colombia’s main Coal and Coke exporting facilities to the different processing and distribution centres  Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain and Central Europe, serving specialized markets around the world with optimum grade material. As part of its business model and industry practices, LCC has deployed coal and coke processing and handling equipment to Colombian ports and Coal producing areas.

LCC’s increasing presence in Colombia has surpassed the steam coal frontier and evolved into the coke markets. Since  2011, LCC has been involved in the purchase of Metallurgical and Reactive coke from the Boyaca/Cundinamarca and Cucuta areas respectively. LCC’s renowned processing and grade preservation practices and expertise have quickly positioned our group as leading and reliable supplier of coke in Europe, providing for expansion opportunities.
